Originally from Baytown, TX, Dr. Jason Martin is an Associate Professor of Counseling at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) in Belton, TX and serves as the Clinical Director for the Graduate Counseling Program's clinical training center, Community Life Counseling (CLC) at UMHB. He previously served 2 years as the Director of Education and Training at the Krist Samaritan Center in Houston, TX. He also taught family therapy courses as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. While in Houston, he was also a member of the Krist Samaritan Center clinical staff, working with couples, families, and individuals in his psychotherapeutic practice. In 2006 he earned his Ph.D. in Family and Child Ecology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Michigan State University. He earned his Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy (2002) and Bachelor of Arts (1999) from Abilene Christian University. While studying Youth and Family Ministry and Theatre at Abilene Christian, he participated in the Big Purple Marching Band, Pi Kappa men's social club, and numerous ACU Theatre productions.

Dr. Martin is an active Funding Member of the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (TAMFT), and he presently serves as the TAMFT President. He has also presented at various conferences on the practice of therapy and supervision, including at the TAMFT annual conference, conference of the Texas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (TACES), and the conference of the Associate for Counselor Education & Supervision (ACES). He is an AAMFT-Approved Clinical Supervisor and a Board Approved Supervisor for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) and Licensed Marriage and Familty Therapists (LMFT) in Texas. Dr. Martin is an ally to the LGBTQ+ community.

Dr. Martin and his wife, Kari, have been married since 1998. Kari received her BBA from Abilene Christian in 1999 and her MBA from Tulane University in 2011. She is currently Chief Financial Officer at Artcobell in Temple, TX. They have two young adult children: Aidan and Regan. They are active members of The Vine Church in Temple, TX and variously enjoy performing in plays and musicals, cycling, reading, playing board games, and rooting for the Houston Astros.
